Frequently Asked Questions

What is a podcast?

Simply put, a podcast is a series of audio or video digital files that you can subscribe and listen to or watch on your MP3 or MP4 player or on your personal computer.

Do I need an iPod to watch or listen to LibeCast content?

While you can certainly use an iPod, MP3 player or other device, it is not necessary. You can watch or listen on your computer.

How do I subscribe to a podcast?

When you subscribe to a podcast series from LibeCast, any new recordings will be automatically sent to you when they become available.  This eliminates the need to routinely check the LibeCast webpage to find new programs.

To subscribe to a podcast series, you will need a tool – sometimes called a reader, receiver or “podcatcher”– to bring the podcast content to you.  Some, like Google homepage or My Yahoo! are browser-based (web pages) that you can customize to include content you choose.  Others, like iTunes or Juice, are software applications that you download and install on your computer.  They typically offer extra features for managing your subscriptions.  Whatever you choose, you will still need iTunes or a player like Quicktime to play audio or video content.

If you have iTunes installed, the easiest way to subscribe to a LibeCast podcast is to click on the podcasting icon.  If you do not have iTunes installed on your computer, simply right-click on the icon and copy the link. Then paste the copied link into your podcatcher’s address line.

I don’t want to subscribe – I just want to listen or watch a particular event.  Can I do that?

Yes! Find the title of the program you want to hear, and select either “download the audio file” or “download the video file.”  The audio file is an mp3 and will play in iTunes or any other audio software supporting that format, such as RealAudio or Quicktime. The video is Quicktime (mp4) and should play in your browser or on your video iPod.  You may need to download the Quicktime player first.
